We have an active patient participation group at our practice.
Every patient registered with the Grayshott Practice is automatically a member of the Grayshott Surgery Patient Participation Group.
This PPG was established in 2016, the PPG is a registered charity (no. 1193520).
A PPG is a committee-led group of people who are patients of the Surgery and want to help it work as well as it can for patients, doctors, staff, as well as the wider local community. It acts as a bridge between patients and the GP practice.
- Help patients to be more informed and responsible for their own health through newsletters, social media updates and hosting patient health talks.
- Provide opportunities for patients to express views on services.
- Help to improve communication between The Practice and the patients
- Raise funds to purchase equipment not normally provided by the Practice to enhance the patient experience.
To date, Grayshott Surgery PPG has raised funds to buy two community defibrillators, situated in the Square in Grayshott and at the Garage in Beacon Hill. We successfully applied for grant funding from the National Lottery to purchase these machines, but are required to pay an annual maintenance fee as an ongoing expense.
Donations from two former patients, alongside grant funding from East Hampshire District Council, Hampshire County Council and Surrey County Council allowed us to purchase an Ankle Brachial Pressure Index Screening Machine for the surgery. This machine measures the blood flow in both arms and legs simultaneously and is an immediate and accurate diagnosis of Peripheral Arterial Disease. Having this equipment available at the Surgery means that patients are saved a journey to the Royal Surrey County Hospital.
We were very fortunate to receive a bequest in the will of a former patient and a donation from Headley Voluntary Care Group which have enabled us to provide the doctors with eight new examination couches to replace the 60yr old rigid ones. The new couches are electrically operated and are much more doctor and patient friendly (no more climbing up onto them). We were also able to provide another ECG machine and an ambulatory blood pressure machine, Feno Machine, and Spirometry equipment, which have proved their worth with the staff and patients.
Your PPG is led by a small volunteer committee of patients who work in partnership with the GP practice to continually look at ways to enhance the patient experience.
The Committee consists of the Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, one or more representatives from the Practice and a small number of general committee members who must be willing to meet regularly to actively help with communication, fund-raising activities, event planning and administration. The Committee is impartial and works towards improving the patient experience for all patients of Grayshott Surgery.
There are limited places available on the Committee, but if you are interested in getting involved, please get in touch by emailing syheartlands.grayshott.ppg@nhs.net
We are continuing to look at ways that your experience as a patient of the Surgery can be even better. Please get involved by joining the PPG and help make our Surgery the best it can be.
Any patient registered at the Grayshott Practice is eligible to become a member of the PPG.
You can be a member of the PPG in two ways:
As Part of the General PPG:
These are patients that sign up to receive regular newsletters containing general information from the Committee , Practice news, Community health initiatives, current health matters and NHS campaigns. PPG members also give feedback through taking part in patient surveys or by giving non medical feedback to the Committee on their patient experience. They will be invited to attend patient health talks and events as well as our AGM. It is important that our PPG has a broad base of patient involvement and views. Our aim is to make our PPG as representative of our practice population as possible and so encourage all Surgery patients to get involved by filling in the form below.
